alot of stuffs been go'n on...

my health

Back in November I went into the clinic because I wasn't feeling well. They gave me some medication and I was fine but while I was there I had some blood test done. Just before Christmas, I got a call from my clinic telling me that because of my last blood tests I need to go see an Endocrinologist. I saw one at the beginning of January. Basically, my Prolactin levels are really high and so I've been sent for a Triple Bolus test, a Visual Field test and an MRI.

Last week Wednesday I went for the Triple Bolus test and on Thursday I went for the Field of Vision test. (My MRI has yet to be scheduled.) The Triple Bolus test was long and uncomfortable but I got through it. Basically, they stick you with an IV, pump GnRH, TRH and Insulin in you, and then they take blood from you about 6 times during a 1.5 hr time span (I think about 2 cups was taken all together). About 6 tests are run on the blood from each take. The results will reveal the type of growth, and other things I don't know about. :) The Field of Vision test was easy and it's exactly what you think it is. If there is a growth on the pituitary it usually affects the optical nerve and will show up in this test. The results are instantanous. The test revealed that I have a tumor on my pituitary. Based on the test and my high prolactin levels (active) it is assumed small and benign. This is good news as I will just be required to take medication for the rest of my life that will keep it in check. I will be seeing my Endocrinologist this Friday to go over the results from both these tests so hopefully she comes up with the same diagnoses and is able to begin treatment. Obviously, there is a chance that things could be worse than the current assumption so I ask that you pray for healing for me.

* Updates on other stuffs coming soon...

additional site

Well, it looks as though I've got my additional website (focusing on my trip to Africa click here) mostly complete. Now I'll get back to posting on both... :) This one will be more about my personal going-ons and the other obviously will be all things Africa related. Feel free to keep tabs on both.

it's been awhile

... and it's been intentional.

I've been really busy the past few months and gave up blogging to free up even a few minutes for myself. Plus, since I was so busy there's wasn't much to write about. Boring stuff mostly.

But, I do have some exciting news. I will be moving out of the country! That's right, I'm leaving for Tanzania in May and volunteering with Pamoja Ministries for an entire year! Please check out www.cynthiagoestoafrica.blogspot.com for information and updates.
