dreary: how adequate

Dreary-ness!
Deary Weather ~ So we're having some pretty crappy weather. Last week it was beautiful with a high of 25 but it turned to 0 and snow by Saturday. Michelle and I participated in the Great Ride 'n Stride event in Waterloo on Sunday. It was gross weather and horribly organized but it was a good walk. (more info in the post below)
Dreary Me ~ Michelle and I believe we got food poisoning from the sausages they were giving out at the walk. Yesterday I was going to the washroom every 20mins or so. I've also had a cold since the end of last month. It's sucking alot of my energy.
Dreary Apartment ~ Jasmine moved out today :( I'm sad. I'm going to miss her. She had better come visit us as often as she can! (I know you read this Jasmine)

We'll tomorrow's another day.

Cancer is a disease that has struck my family hard. Both my Grandmothers have past away from cancer. My Aunt Elisabeth has been suffering from cancer for 3 years now. My Aunt Corrie is living with cancer and my Aunt Rita passed away of cancer this past October. Michelle (my sister) and I decided to take part in this years event in honour of our family members. We created our own team. We called it Mishu & Cyncha's Great Walk Adventure. I even created a logo for it :) We had 8 people on our team and we raised just over $1000. Awesome!

transition, yep

Well it's been quite a few days since my last post. It's been busy!
My new job I'm enjoying very much even though it's been frustrating. Almost every task I go to do I find another system that's not in place or I have to do research or I find things that aren't up to date. So basically almost every task takes 2 to 10x as long as it should because everything is all over the place. Guess that's why they hired me!
So my roommate Jasmine is moving out on Tuesday. I'm sad :( She's the best roommate ever! Lyndsay moves out in a couple of weeks as well. Justin has already moved in and Amanda is moving some stuff in over the weekend so this place is going to be pretty crowded. It'll be an extended transition period but by May 1 it'll be just myself, Amanda and Justin. I'm really looking forward to it. I think it'll be a great summer. (What makes it even better is that Amanda has some hot friends. Haha! who am I kinding? ha)
Tonight I have been working on the program for my friend's wedding. I can't believe they (Bec and Chris) are getting married in less then a month. Wow! I am so happy for them! Typically, I don't like going to weddings. Actually, I do, I like the ceremonies. I just hate boring receptions. I've been to so many long, boring, dragged out receptions of my cousins'. But now that my friends are getting married I don't dread going to weddings as much. So that's good. I'm really looking forward to this one. Knowing Bec and Chris I'm sure it'll be beautiful wedding.
Well, I'm off to sleep. (Yes, I know I've been staying up way too late lately)

strange...

So I was walking home from my friend's house tonight around 10pm, I was about 20 feet from my house and I hear a male voice yelling "Hey". So I turn around and there's this guy about a block away. He yells again, "Hey, how ya doing?". I'm like this is weird but it'd be rude for me to ignore him. So I yell "I'm doing alright," and he says, "Cool, wanna come over for a beer?". I reply with "No thanks, it's been a long day," and I continue walking and he disappears into a house around the corner. What a strange exchange. It probably doesn't sound strange but it is in this neighbourhood. I've never been approached by anyone around here during the day let alone at night. Strange to think that it takes a beer and some hormones (ha) to get people to randomly approach other people. If this would have happened 50 years ago I would have known exactly what the guy's name was and probably the name of his parents, too. :)

a day of firsts

So today was my first day on the job as Administration Manager at the Embassy. Wow, there's lots of potential to really make some impact here. I'm really looking forward to it. I think the toughest part will be figuring out what to do first!
Tonight, I tried Bubble Tea for the first time ever. Not my cup of tea (pun intended). Maybe if I tried it without the milk base and without the bubbles then maybe I would like it. But then it would be just juice. All well.
While hanging out at the Bubble Tea place (University Plaza) Jasmine, MaryKaye, Justin and I played Dominos. I won! First time in a long time that I actually came out as winner in a game.

feet first

Wow. Tomorrow I start my new job. I'm stoked, what more can I say? I know it will be position full of challenges, change, and growth. Bring it on! I've been stuck for far too long.

So I've been reading alot of books lately. (Thanks to Steve's library upstairs!). The most recent book I finished was The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho. I recommend this one. It's a great simple story. Another book that I have recently finished is The Barbarian Way by Erwin MacManus. He makes alot of great comments. One such comment:

When the church becomes an institution, people are nothing more than volunteers to be recruited. When the church is a movement, our stewardship becomes the unleashing of our God-given gifts, talents, and passions. My goal is not to cast a vision that everyone buys into, but to create a visional community where everyone who enters in begins to have wild and God-sized dreams and visions. There is a price to pay, of course, when you choose this particular path; you end up with an unruly barbarian tribe. They keep getting called by God to do things you didn't expect or really didn't want them to do. - Erwin Raphael McManus, The Barbarian Way

So I did a bunch of cleaning today. I also slept and watched tv for a couple of hours. I wanted to make some chocolate chip cookies. My friend Mel's recipe is awesome. But I had no butter or margine. Boo :( I was hoping to mail some out to a few of my friends. Yep, you can mail cookies... I've done it a few times now. So yeah I ended up painting my toe nails instead.

Can't wait until tomorrow!

c'est fini!

Well it's over folks. I'm been at my job for 2.5 years. Probably 2 years too many but I won't get into that now. Anyways I had my last day yesterday. It was a very busy day. My boss even tried giving me one last job at 4pm (fat chance!) I ended up staying an hour late anyways. At 5:20pm I finally decided to throw in the towel. It's not my fault they have no one hired so they can just deal! I was outta there!!!
Now I can get really excited and start preparing for my new job! I can't wait for Monday!
